Houston Quilt Market 2012

Oh what a fabulous weekend at Quilt Market in Houston.  Here are a few pictures that I took to share with you.  Sorry it is so long, but it was sooooo fun!

This was the crowd waiting to get in on Thurs night for Sample Spree!  The line went around two other corners that you can't see.  We got in after the first hour.  Sample Spree is one of my favorite parts of market.  I love buying fabric. Now, if I would just starting making something with all those treasures that I have purchased.  I just can't bring myself to cut them up they are so cute.

Here is there front of the line for the crowd waiting to get into Market on Sat morning.  Boy was it cold in Houston this year.  I didn't take my sweater off the whole weekend.

Here is Mary Jane's booth displaying her new Glamping Fabric line.  Way cute display.  I also love her magazine.  The old trailer was way too cute.

Being an 80's rock music junkie when I saw that Hello Kitty had made it to Rock Star status I just had to have her picture.  Way to cute.

This Christmas quilt by Mary Buvia was sooooo amazing.  It took my breath away.  The book is called Santa's Loading Dock Quilt.  The detail on this quilt was breathtaking.

This was the best surprise for me at the show.  I had the pleasure of meeting Michelle from The Raspberry Rabbits.  She has the cutest blog ever.  You must go and meet Harrington and Hannah (the bunnies).  Michelle has just released her first book called Briarside Lane.  She was some amazing designs done with beautiful wools and Valdani thread.  I wish her the best with her new book.  Thanks Michelle for taking time to chat with me.  I am still grinning from ear to ear.

I love catching up with Lynette and Vince of Lynette Anderson Designs. I love her fabric lines and the colors that she uses.  Her fabric is just a part of my stash that I just can't bring myself to cut up.  One of my goals in 2013 is my use her fabric line and make a project.

Me and my besties(left to right, me, Laurie Bird, Darlene Zimmerman and Kari Ramsay) meeting up with Darlene Zimmerman.  Congrats to Darlene on her 20th Anniversary with EZ Quilting.  Here in Utah we are still carrying on our Clothesline Club that Darlene started.  We have two clubs with 40 ladies each.  Kari Ramsay is a pattern designer (Fresh Cut Quilts) and a fabric designer for Henry Glass.  Laurie Bird is also a pattern designer (Rose Cottage Quilts).  Both are amazing designers and I am lucky to call them my friends.

Here are a few projects at the Weeks Dye Works booth.  They have the most beautiful wools.  Do you think I went just a little over the edge?  That would be a big YES.  Yes, that is 16 colors you see in the picture.  Another 2013 goal is to start using wools in projects.

These are just a few of the pictures of my visit to Market.  There were so many beautiful breath taking quilts on display that I would be here forever posting pictures.  I spent a small fortune while at market and love all that I bought.  I have a few ideas swimming in my head.  I just have to put them to paper and actually do them.  Not having a natural talent for pattern designing I am still a little scared (OK, a lot scared) to actually think that I could make a project and a pattern to go with it.  Another 2013 goal is to actually do it.

Seriously Officer - We really did purchase all these goodies at Quilt Market (well maybe a few were given to us)!  Kari and I couldn't resist taking our pictures in this at the airport.  My empty bag going weighed in at 43 pounds on the return trip.  I think I bought just a few things. Hee! Hee!

Thanks for sharing in my very fun weekend.

Until Next Time, Tina
