Update on Remodel - Nov 2012

Update on House Remodel - Nov 2012

I had a feeling that during the installation of the electrical work that I would have a foot go through my ceiling - BUT I ended up with an 8 foot hole in the ceiling.  Nothing like getting easy access to the attic in order to lay new lines.

Almost all the new electrical lines are in.  The new switch box and meter should be activated on Dec 10 after inspection.

Big concern now will be weather the change out will work in the very old box and all the things still attached to the old box.  May have to move a few items to the new box so that it won't continue to be overloaded in the old box.

I have gotten all the new insulation put up on the exterior walls.  There has NEVER been insulation in my house.  It already feels so much warmer, even without the sheet rock up yet.

Next, get the plumbing going.  Start the sheet rock and finish after we get all the plumbing in.  Once I start the sheet rock, I get the schedule the floor guy to start the wood floor refinishing.

I am getting more excited as the days go by.  Hoping to be painting during the Christmas/New Year's time away from work.

Thanks for stopping by to see the update.

SNOW!!!!

SNOW! SNOW! SNOW!

Before I go any further I want to Thank all our military service members, past and present, for their service to our country.  We would be nothing without all of them.  I am honored to work, as a federal civilian employee, for them and beside them in the Utah National Guard.  God Bless You and your families for the sacrifies you have given.

Did I say SNOW.  That is a big YES.  It snowed here all day Fri and again Sat night into Sun morning. I shoveled some seriously wet heavy snow Sat afternoon.  This was the view now out my back porch Sun afternoon.

I went out and measured the snow - 10".

I am going to try and keep the pond running this year to help the birds that I feed all winter.  Not sure if it will work since it is a small pump and pond.  I love feeding the birds and listening to them during the day.  They are very intertaining some days.

Forward Movement

Forward Motion on Remodel!

Today I finally have forward movement on my remodel project.  Walls went up today!!!

But first - This is was the view outside my back porch this morning - SNOW!!!!!

There was at least 2 dozen Quail eating this morning.  I also had lots of Dove's and many other birds filling up on birdseed.  Later in the afternoon I had a small hawk fly through my front porch with a mouse for lunch (this happened on one of the many trips to the garbage).

My house was built in 1959.  There were 1 x 2's on the wall and no insulation.

Construction has begun!!!!  New 2x4's are going up.  So excited to be moving forward.  Next, bathroom plumbing to be redone and the bathroom floor.  I am also replacing all the old electrical lines.

Houston Quilt Market 2012

Oh what a fabulous weekend at Quilt Market in Houston.  Here are a few pictures that I took to share with you.  Sorry it is so long, but it was sooooo fun!

This was the crowd waiting to get in on Thurs night for Sample Spree!  The line went around two other corners that you can't see.  We got in after the first hour.  Sample Spree is one of my favorite parts of market.  I love buying fabric. Now, if I would just starting making something with all those treasures that I have purchased.  I just can't bring myself to cut them up they are so cute.

Here is there front of the line for the crowd waiting to get into Market on Sat morning.  Boy was it cold in Houston this year.  I didn't take my sweater off the whole weekend.

Here is Mary Jane's booth displaying her new Glamping Fabric line.  Way cute display.  I also love her magazine.  The old trailer was way too cute.

Being an 80's rock music junkie when I saw that Hello Kitty had made it to Rock Star status I just had to have her picture.  Way to cute.

This Christmas quilt by Mary Buvia was sooooo amazing.  It took my breath away.  The book is called Santa's Loading Dock Quilt.  The detail on this quilt was breathtaking.

This was the best surprise for me at the show.  I had the pleasure of meeting Michelle from The Raspberry Rabbits.  She has the cutest blog ever.  You must go and meet Harrington and Hannah (the bunnies).  Michelle has just released her first book called Briarside Lane.  She was some amazing designs done with beautiful wools and Valdani thread.  I wish her the best with her new book.  Thanks Michelle for taking time to chat with me.  I am still grinning from ear to ear.

I love catching up with Lynette and Vince of Lynette Anderson Designs. I love her fabric lines and the colors that she uses.  Her fabric is just a part of my stash that I just can't bring myself to cut up.  One of my goals in 2013 is my use her fabric line and make a project.

Me and my besties(left to right, me, Laurie Bird, Darlene Zimmerman and Kari Ramsay) meeting up with Darlene Zimmerman.  Congrats to Darlene on her 20th Anniversary with EZ Quilting.  Here in Utah we are still carrying on our Clothesline Club that Darlene started.  We have two clubs with 40 ladies each.  Kari Ramsay is a pattern designer (Fresh Cut Quilts) and a fabric designer for Henry Glass.  Laurie Bird is also a pattern designer (Rose Cottage Quilts).  Both are amazing designers and I am lucky to call them my friends.

Here are a few projects at the Weeks Dye Works booth.  They have the most beautiful wools.  Do you think I went just a little over the edge?  That would be a big YES.  Yes, that is 16 colors you see in the picture.  Another 2013 goal is to start using wools in projects.

These are just a few of the pictures of my visit to Market.  There were so many beautiful breath taking quilts on display that I would be here forever posting pictures.  I spent a small fortune while at market and love all that I bought.  I have a few ideas swimming in my head.  I just have to put them to paper and actually do them.  Not having a natural talent for pattern designing I am still a little scared (OK, a lot scared) to actually think that I could make a project and a pattern to go with it.  Another 2013 goal is to actually do it.

Seriously Officer - We really did purchase all these goodies at Quilt Market (well maybe a few were given to us)!  Kari and I couldn't resist taking our pictures in this at the airport.  My empty bag going weighed in at 43 pounds on the return trip.  I think I bought just a few things. Hee! Hee!

Thanks for sharing in my very fun weekend.

Until Next Time, Tina

Halloween Outfits Ready for Trick or Treating

HALLOWEEN OUTFITS READY FOR TRICK OR TREATING!

Jack Skellington - Nightmare Before Christmas

Sally - Nightmare Before Christmas

I think Taylor and Cameron's Halloween outfits turned out just wonderful. Can't wait to see the kids all dressed up. Don't you just love the matching trick or treat bags?

I didn't get much else done.  Spent the weekend dog sitting these two very sweet four legged family members:

Abby and Kingsford

They both were perfect angels.  But, I get to send them home.  Doesn't that sound just like the perfect situation.  I love being the Aunt.

Getting ready to go shopping at Quilt Market in Houston.  Sooooo excited to see what is new in the quilting world.  I'll update more when I return.

Stinkin' Cute

Here is my Festival of Trees quilt top done!!!  Woot! Woot! I am so ahead of the game it is scary.  This top turned out sooooo cute.

This is a view of my backyard.  I love my home.  It is so inviting and the music of the birds is very beautiful.

This is Abby.  She has been staying with me this last week and will be here for one more.  Her mom and dad went on a trip to Spain.  She has been so fun to have around.  I have missed my dog Callie.  BUT, I don't miss the commitment of taking care of a pet.  I know that I am ok not having a pet right now and look forward to the day when I have one later in life.  I want to play and travel right now.

Well, today I hope to get a few fall things done outside around the house.  I have to clean out the gutters for one, prep the hoses, cover the faucets, and  cut back a few rose bushes.  I had to turn on the heat in the house already.  Since I have gutted the house there is no insulation and no sheetrock, so it was pretty cold yesterday, 53 degrees inside.  I think it was warmer outside than inside.

Later today I am going to start Taylor's Halloween dress, she wants to be Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas.  Cameron is going to be Jack.  I will be working on his outfit also.  Wish me luck, this is going to take some imagination to accomplish.
