Stinkin' Cute

Here is my Festival of Trees quilt top done!!!  Woot! Woot! I am so ahead of the game it is scary.  This top turned out sooooo cute. 

This is a view of my backyard.  I love my home.  It is so inviting and the music of the birds is very beautiful.

 

This is Abby.  She has been staying with me this last week and will be here for one more.  Her mom and dad went on a trip to Spain.  She has been so fun to have around.  I have missed my dog Callie.  BUT, I don't miss the commitment of taking care of a pet.  I know that I am ok not having a pet right now and look forward to the day when I have one later in life.  I want to play and travel right now.

 

Well, today I hope to get a few fall things done outside around the house.  I have to clean out the gutters for one, prep the hoses, cover the faucets, and  cut back a few rose bushes.  I had to turn on the heat in the house already.  Since I have gutted the house there is no insulation and no sheetrock, so it was pretty cold yesterday, 53 degrees inside.  I think it was warmer outside than inside. 

 

Later today I am going to start Taylor's Halloween dress, she wants to be Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas.  Cameron is going to be Jack.  I will be working on his outfit also.  Wish me luck, this is going to take some imagination to accomplish.

New Project

Here are the fabrics for this years 2012 Festival of Trees quilt donation.  So excited!!!!!

Here in Salt Lake we have a yearly event called Festival of Trees.  All funds raised from selling decorated Christmas trees, quilts, door wreaths and table holiday decorations is giving to Primary Children's Hospital.  I love being a part of this event. 

Here is a picture of last years, 2011,  quilt and display.  My quilt is just a little part of the whole donation.  Cherrly Beveridge is the woman in charge and she does a beautiful job each year.  It takes a lot of work and effort in purchasing and setting up the display.

 

 

I will update with more pictures of this year's quilt as I get it started.  Need to get the top done this week because next weekend I will working on sewing my neices' Sally Halloween dress.  And then next will be my nephew's Jack Skeleton outfit to also sew.  I think Oct is going to go by faster then I want.

 

Previous years are stored away on a disk that is packed due to home construction.  Wish I coul show you a few more past years.

 

Better get this posted and be off to bed.  Have to work in the morning and be ready to do some serious sewing when I get home in the afternoon.

A few of my past quilts

This was my "Basket of Love" that I designed and that was published in Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Vol 4.  I am block number 335 on page 35.  I can't tell you how excited I was when they notified me that I was selected for the magazine.  Woot! Woot!

This is the first t-shirt quilt that I designed for my Godson Ryan when he graduated high school. Talk about a ton of work.  I learned a ton making this quilt, plus is was t-shirts on both sides.

 

This is another one of my designs.  My Sandy Stitchers Quilt Guild every year does a quilt challenge.  In 2011 we exchanged fabric flavors of our choice and then put them into a quilt to had to have the exchange fabrics and 5 Dresden plates.  I love teapots and used Kay McKenzie's "Tea Pots 2" book and the rest is mine. 

This is my design for our 2012 Sandy Stitchers Quilt Guild Challenge.  This year's challenge was to have at least 5 pinwheels in the top.  I had so much fun designing "Cherries Jubilee".  The blow are open at the top and I used an antique hankie in the bigger bowl. 

 

 

I hope you have enjoyed a few of my past quilts.  I have to thank my friend Kari Ramsay of Fresh Cut Quilts for pushing me and helping me find the confidence to design and actually produce my own designs.  I am having such a great time creating.  Now if I can just find the desire to write them up once I design them.

Here are pictures from my house remodel. I am updating the bathroom. My sewing room became way to small and my bedroom was way to big, so I am moving a wall and enlarging the sewing room from 1 room to 2 rooms in size.

I am so excited about this project.  I have been waiting quit awhile to get it started.

Here are my two little ones.  These two are grouping up so fast I know that I am missing things along the way.  Cameron (youngest nephew) started 1st grade and Taylor (only neice) started 4th grade.  Our favorite thing is to have a sleep over and have special pancakes in the morning.  Special pancakes are always a fun surprise because you never know what flavor it will be.  This last weekend we had Junior Mint pancakes.  Some of the favorites have been chocolate chips, peeps, candy cane and peppermint patty pancakes.  I am so blessed.

I love my two oldest nephews.  This is their first day back to school.  Captain America started 10th grade (Tanner) and Batman started 11th grade (Landon).  I am not sure where the time had gone.  These two are turning into very awesome men that I am very proud of.  I look forward to what the future brings for them.
